Doug Nierman, trombone/low brass
Doug Nierman received his bachelor’s degree from the New England Conservatory of Music and his Master’s degree at the Juilliard School. He has played professionally in Boston, New York, Israel, Venezuela, and Italy. A native Washingtonian, he has been a member of the Pacific Northwest Ballet since 1988, and plays with the Seattle Symphony, Seattle Opera, 5th Avenue Theater, Paramount Theater, Auburn Symphony, and with Cathedral Brass at St. James Cathedral. He has taught low brass and trombone at the National Conservatory in Venezuela. In the Northwest he has taught at Pacific Lutheran University, Western Washington University and Central Washington University. He records frequently and can be heard on soundtracks such as Die Hard III, and Edward Norton’s Keeping the Faith and is on a Grammy Award winning recording of Anthony & Cleopatra. He has a master’s degree in psychology from Antioch University, and teaches beginning to advanced low brass at Music Center of the Northwest.
