Scott began his study of the guitar in 1976 with Wynn Smith, head of the classical guitar department at Seattle Pacific University (SPU). Scott later won entrance with honors to SPU. Scott also studied with Patricio Contrerras, adjunct professor at Seattle Central Community College. Patricio was a graduate of the Conservatory of Music of Madrid. Scott, with the help of Patricio, went to study with Jose Tomas in Alicante, Spain. Scott is a graduate of the University of Washington and is presently studying with Michael Partington, head of the guitar program at the University of Washington. Scott recently finished the Suzuki course work at the Longay Conservatory of Guitar in Santa Clara, California, under the tutelage of Frank Longay, founder and director of the conservatory.
