John Avinger has been studying, playing and promoting hand drumming since 1981. He was the director and producer of the Seattle World Rhythm Festival for 12 years, opened John’s Music in 1981 (still open so far), has taught drumming workshops for the Evergreen Orff Chapter (elementary music teachers), directed the kids drumming ensemble, Drums and Roses, which performed for the World Rhythm Festival and the Evergreen Orff Chapter, directed the junk percussion marching ensemble for the Solstice parade, and lots of other stuff.
