Lauren Cadiz, Suzuki and traditional violin and viola
Lauren received her BA in Music Performance from Southern Oregon State University and a degree in Music Education from University of Oregon, followed by courses in Suzuki String Teaching from John Kendall at Southern Illinois University and the Edwardsville Suzuki Institute. Lauren then played with show orchestras in Reno and Lake Tahoe, performing with entertainers such as Sammy Davis Jr., Helen Reddy, and John Denver. In the mid-late eighties, Lauren moved to Anchorage, AK where she taught private lessons and performed with the Anchorage Symphony, Anchorage Opera Orchestra, and Anchorage Ballet for 9 years. She then moved to Portland, OR and taught at the Community Music Center for 6 years. While in Portland, Lauren studied viola with Connie Whelan and played with the Columbia Symphony, the Newport Symphony, and freelanced as a union musician. Lauren performs regularly as a freelance musician and as a member of Philharmonia Northwest and the Walton String Quartet. She is an active member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and the Suzuki Association of Washington State. Lauren has taught Suzuki violin and viola at Music Center since 2005.
