Classically-trained violinist Cicely Nelson began teaching at the Music Center of the Northwest in the fall of 2010. She has completed extensive teacher training in the Suzuki Method at the School for Strings in New York City, where she taught in the Start-Up Program. As an avid chamber musician, she has participated in the Ameropa (Czech Republic) and Bowdoin Music Festivals and the Alaria Chamber Music Program. A recent transplant from New York City, she studied at the Mannes College of Music and obtained her B.A. from Columbia University. Her principal violin teachers include Shirley Givens and Joey Corpus. Cicely also teaches Pilates and Yoga and is devoted to helping musicians make movement and fitness an integral part of their lives.
