Kristen Ramer holds a Bachelor of Arts with distinction in music from the University of Hawaii-Manoa, and is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). She has been teaching privately in Seattle since 2003.
While living in Hawaii, Kristen sang with Hawaii Opera Theater and Diamond Head Theater; she also worked as a wedding soloist at island resorts and chapels. After moving to Seattle in 2001 Kristen joined Puget Sound trio Straw Into Gold and sang with them through 2004. Straw Into Gold’s diverse repertoire included traditional and contemporary folk music as well as jazz, bluegrass and choral styles; the trio's most recent album, Many Moons, was released in September 2004.
Kristen currently sings with The Esoterics, a prestigious Seattle choir renowned for its performance of contemporary a cappella music. She can be seen onstage later this year in Bellevue Opera's productions of The Magic Flute and Carmen.
Kristen continues to study voice with Erich Parce; previous teachers have included Melyssa Rice, Laurence Paxton and Donna Harler-Smith.
