Music Together® Guitar for Grown-ups
An Internationally Recognized Early Childhood Music Program
Imagine the joy of playing music for your child while they dance, sing, and laugh. Our Guitar Class for Grownups was designed for parents and caregivers of children currently enrolled in Music Together. In this 60-minute class, you'll learn to play selected songs from the current song collection so you can make even MORE beautiful music at home. This class accommodates both beginners who have never held a guitar and those who already have some skill. You'll be playing Music Together songs in no time!
Can't get to your child's Music Together class? This guitar class for adults gives you an new way to make music with your child at home. Build your skills in an organic, relaxed way and enjoy a night out with other parents of small children. Participants receive a workbook and bring their own guitar, capo, and tuner. If you want to learn to play the Music Together songs your child loves, this is the class for you.
Classes Will Resume in Fall 2017
- Adult tuition is $145 which includes: 8 weekly classes, your Collection Songbook.
David Matthew Shere
David Matthew Shere has been performing and writing music from the early age of 7, beginning with lessons on his family's spinet piano and later taking up the guitar at the age of 11. Originally a native of Dayton, OH and the surrounding area, David has been a successful guitar teacher in Chicago, IL and Santa Barbara, CA. He has performed in a wide range of ensemble settings both in and outside of academia, produced numerous successful recording projects, and coached a variety of bands. David completed a Bachelor's degree in music from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA in 2003. In 2006 and 2007 he completed M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in music composition at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has worked as a Teaching Assistant at UC Santa Barbara, conducting classes in electronic music and music theory. He has also studied jazz performance extensively with such luminaries as Jim Knapp, Julian Priester, and Tom Talman, and classical performance with Roger Nelson and Jeremy Haladyna. As a composer, David has had acoustic and electronic works performed by the Odeon string quartet, the Seattle Chamber Players, CREATE, and the UCSB Ensemble for Contemporary Music. He has written several lengthy instruction books, many compositions, and countless tutorials for the guitar, and is a proud endorsee of Godin Guitars.
